Mr. Justice (Retd.) Khawaja Muhammad Saeed
Mr. Justice Khawaja Muhammad Saeed was born on 27th October 1941, in village Hajibal, Tehsil upper Haveli of old District Poonch presently named as District Haveli. He passed his Matriculation Examination from High School Abbaspur and graduated from Government College Muzaffarabad. He did his Degree of LLB from the University of Peshawar. He was enrolled as Pleader in September, 1967 and was elected as the Secretary General Central Bar Association Muzaffarabad in the years 1968 and 1971. He became Advocate of the High Court of AJ&K in May, 1972.
He was enrolled as an Advocate of Supreme Court of AJ&K in May, 1977. He was elected as the President of the Central Bar Association in 1978. He was appointed as the Judge of the High Court of AJ&K on 12th March, 1990, elevated as Acting Chief Justice of the High Court on 27th March, 1996 and as the Chief Justice of the High Court as well as the Shariat Court of AJ&K on 13th May, 1997. He was elevated as Judge of the Supreme Court of AJ&K on 3rd May, 2001 due to sudden death of the Chief Justice of the time Mr. Justice Muhammad Yunus Surakhvi.
He was appointed as the Acting Chief Justice of Azad Jammu and Kashmir on 17th September 2004 and as the permanent Chief Justice of Azad Jammu and Kashmir on 25th January 2005. On superannuation, His lordship was retired on 26th October, 2006. After retirement, He was appointed as the Chief Election Commissioner of AJ&K in October 2008 and served as such till 28th October, 2012.
