Mr. Justice (Retd.) Ghulam Mustafa Mughal
Mr. Justice Ghulam Mustafa Mughal was born on 25th December, 1955 in village Balgran, District Muzaffarabad. He got his early education from Primary School Balgran and passed his Matriculation Examination from Government Pilot High School Muzaffarabad in the year 1972.
He joined Degree College Muzaffarabad in 1973, and graduation from the University of Punjab in 1976. After graduation, joined University Law College, Lahore in 1976 and did his L.L.B in 1979.
He was enrolled as a Pleader on 5th May, 1980 and as an Advocate of the High Court of Azad Jammu and Kashmir on 4th July, 1983. He was elected as Member of the District Council Muzaffarabad in the year 1983. He was enrolled as an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Azad Jammu and Kashmir on 24th February, 1987. He Served as Legal Adviser to the Agricultural Development Bank of Pakistan, Small Business Finance Corporation and as visiting faculty at the Kashmir Law College Muzaffarabad for many years.
He was elected as the General Secretary Central Bar Association Muzaffarabad in 1987. Elected as the President Central Bar Association Muzaffarabad in the years 1991, 1993, 1995 and 1997. He was elected as Member of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Bar Council in the year 1997 and served as the Chairman of its Executive Committee as well. He was elected as the President of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Supreme Court Bar Association in the year 2001. Elevated as the permanent Judge of the High Court of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and took oath on January 30, 2002.
He also served as Member Labour Appellate Tribunal, Chairman High Court Bar Disciplinary Committee and Chairman Enrolment Committee and the Chairman Board of Governors of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Press Foundation. His Lordship was elevated as the permanent Chief Justice of the High Court of Azad Jammu & Kashmir and took oath as such on January 4, 2010. His Lordship was elevated as permanent Judge Supreme Court of Azad Jammu & Kashmir on 4th April 2017 and retired on 27th December 2020.
